Training and Employment

SANDBAG has a long history of working with people who are disadvantaged in the traditional labour market to gain skills, opportunities and connections which allow them to identify and progress through a pathway towards employment and participation.  We have done this through a range of Skills and Work Development programs and projects over the past 5 years.  Additionally we provide supportive employment for people through our Social Enterprise, SEED Parks and Property Maintenance, the 2014 Australian Small Social Enterprise of the Year Award.

We are excited to offer a number of work skills opportunities which provide local people experiencing unemployment the ability to increase their chances of gaining employment through training and skills development, resulting in obtaining a Nationally Accredited Certification, and gain ‘real-work’ experiences and connections with employers.   Our current programs are proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Governments Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative.

“Cleaning and Greening” North Brisbane provides two different training and employment pathway programs for individuals seeking employment in either Conservation and Land Management or Cleaning Industries.

The program allows participants to apply their knowledge in a practical sense by undertaking conservation and land management projects with SANDBAG and its community and business partners. Participants will work under the supervision of a Skilled Supervisor and will also gain their Chainsaw Ticket and First Aid qualification.
