“Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.”– Michael Jordan

Support worker cooking for clientsWhile I am not a basketball fan, Michael Jordan’s words definitely resonate with the team at SANDBAG Community Linking and Access Services. COVID-19 has built very strong and sturdy walls for us, making accessing the community and achieving our goals quite the challenge. However, the support workers and clients have figured out ways to overcome all of these obstacles. CLAS is still able to access the community, and smashing our goals. Nothing has stopped Greg from getting out in the SANDBAG van, and heading down to the Redcliffe Pier for a stroll to see everyone and view the port of Brisbane. Janette is cooking up a storm at home and making some beautiful meals for the family. Caroline is helping out the team at the Community Centre by volunteering. SANDBAG Support workers have welcomed the new way of work for them, rocking the facemasks and gloves to ensure all staff and clients are safe during the day. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our support workers for their hard work and dedication to their clients during this time. We are very blessed to have such a hardworking team at.

While we are looking forward to some normality restored in the world, nothing will stop our team from getting out there and living the best life.
